Western Bulldogs will host North Melbourne on Sunday afternoon in a game that will have a significant bearing on the top eight; the Bulldogs need to win to hold onto fourth while North Melbourne must win to keep their finals chances alive.
Western Bulldogs put aside any doubts the club was split over the Akermanis sacking with an empathic display at the expense of Fremantle. The Bulldogs won by a staggering 82 points to dislodge the Dockers from fourth place with Barry Hall kicking four goals and Adam Cooney racking up 36 disposals. In recent times the Bulldogs hold the advantage of winning three of their last five encounters including a thumping 70 point win in round 9 this season.
North Melbourne suffered a disappointing three point loss against the under sieged Bombers on Saturday night, despite the efforts of Aaron Edwards (4 goals) and Brent Harvey (30 disposals) the Kangaroos were unable to sneak across the line. In their round nine encounter Brent Harvey was the only player to provide any influence with 28 disposals and two goals but he needs support with not one of his team mates achieving 100 or more in the champion data statistics.
Conclusion
This game could almost wipe the Kangaroos out of finals contention, the Bulldogs look focused after last week’s dramas and they are sure to feature deep into September while the Kangaroos have been unable to string any consistency and have been unable to compete with the top for contenders.
