Despite the drama of the Andrew Lovett saga St Kilda has been very impressive during the NAB Cup, progressing through to the grand final. Skipper Nick Riewoldt looks set for yet another big year, youngsters Jarryn Geary and David Armitage have shown they are ready to take the next step while small forward Stephen Milne and midfielders Nick Dal Santo, Jason Gram, Leigh Montagna, Clinton Jones and Lenny Hayes are also in good form.
Hayes injured his calf in the NAB Cup semi-final win over Fremantle but is expected to be right for round one. The Saints not only have class on every line but also plenty of depth should they have a bad run with injuries.
Conclusion
Ross Lyon’s men will be hell-bent on making amends after the heartbreak of last year’s 12-point loss to Geelong in the grand final and will give themselves the best possible chance of doing just that with a top four finish which is offering $1.28.
