Sam Stosur clinched her second straight French Open semi final berth early this morning with a sensational three sets victory over top seed Serena Williams.

After serving for the match in the second set, Stosur lost her serve and was forced into a third set as Williams rallied and took the second set on a tie-break. However Stosur came back incredibly well to take the final set in a thriller, 8-6.

The result backs up another great performance two days ago where she beat Justine Henin in three sets after losing the first set. A win for Stosur in the championships would make her the first Aussie to win the French Open since the legend Margaret Court in 1973.

None of the remaining girls have ever won a Grand Slam title, so there’s sure to be a new name on the trophy on Sunday night! Go Sam!
