The Bletchingly Stakes is run over a distance of 1200 metres at weight for age conditions, with $125,000 in prize money up for offer. It will usually attract some pretty likely horses and there will certainly be some value on offer come Saturday.

St Kilda (3rd)

Essendon (ES), Port Adelaide (ES), North Melbourne (ES), Richmond (ES), Adelaide (AS)

St Kilda have been gifted an easy run home with four games at Etihad Stadium and all against bottom eight clubs. Should win all five matches and claim a top two spot and the home final.

Prediction: 2nd | Premiership: $5.00 | To Make Grand Final: $2.50

Western Bulldogs (4th)

North Melbourne (ES), Adelaide (AS), Geelong (ES), Sydney (SCG), Essendon (AS)

Im predicting the Dogs will win four of their remaining five, with the Geelong game the only tough ask. Two interstate trips make it tough, but the Dogs look destined for the top four again.

Fremantle (5th)

West Coast (S), North Melbourne (ES), Sydney (S), Hawthorn (AU), Carlton (S)

The Dockers have enjoyed a very strong season, but injuries and some poor form are quickly threatening their season now. I have them winning 3 of 5, the Carlton game may be tricky too.

Prediction: 6th | Premiership: $34.00 | Top Four: $4.25

Hawthorn (6th)

Port Adelaide (AS), Sydney (SCG), Melbourne (MCG), Fremantle (AU), Collingwood (MCG)

Three trips outside Victoria, but all matches winnable, bar Collingwood which will be tough. Will certainly make the eight, but top four is a stretch. They should finish 5th-6th and snare home final.

Prediction: 5th | Premiership: $41.00 | Top Eight: $1.25

Carlton (7th)

Collingwood (MCG), Essendon (MCG), Richmond (MCG), Geelong (ES), Fremantle (S)

Tough run home, but 11 wins should be enough to make finals. The Essendon and Richmond matches are crucial. If they can upset Pies, Cats or Dockers, they are near certainties to make it.

Sydney (8th)

An absolute nightmare run home. The loss to Melbourne on the weekend has near killed them. Brisbane game will be the only one they will be confident of winning. Could be curtains for Swans.

North Melbourne (9th)

W Bulldogs (ES), Fremantle (ES), St Kilda (ES), West Coast (S), Melbourne (MCG)

Very tough draw for the Roos, considering they are a game and % outside the top eight. Must beat Dockers, Eagles and Dees for any hope. An upset win over the Dogs or Saints will do wonders.

Adelaide (10th)

Richmond (MCG), W Bulldogs (AS), Brisbane (G), Collingwood (MCG), St Kilda (AS)

Horror run home for the Crows who must face three sides in the top four. Must beat Tigers and Lions, and beat two of Dogs, Pies or Saints. Possible, but fairly unlikely if you ask me. Good night.

Melbourne (11th)

Yes, Melbourne are still a sniff believe it or not! They have a relatively easy run home too, bar Hawthorn. Winning 4 of their last 5 is certainly possible and they could sneak in with 10.5 wins.

Prediction: 10th | Premiership: $501.00 | Top Four: $7.00

AFL Round 4

It’s hard to believe we are already three games into the new AFL season already, but Round 4 is now just a few days away. It’s the Eagles and Bombers kicking off the round this Friday and the Bombers will take some confidence in after their win over Carlton, but winning over in the West is never easy as we know.

All the talk this week is about St Kilda skipper Nick Riewoldt’s left hamstring which could leave him out of action til late in the season. It will be interesting to see how the Saints respond as they play Fremantle in the top of the ladder clash at Etihad Stadium on Sunday – who would of thought!?

Brisbane up against the Dogs is another exciting match coming our way. The Lions are flying on the back of solid form from Brown and Fev, but the Dogs have a big forward of their own in Barry Hall, who booted 4 goals in the final quarter last week to bring them home. Round 6 NRL Betting

The NRL season continues this weekend with Round 6 and there are some good games coming our way. The Titans and Dragons kick it off the round Friday night with the match of the round. These two sides are expected to be top four come end of season, so it is a crucial battle which could help make up the top four mix. The Dragons start favourites at $1.80 but there could be some money coming for the home side at $2.00.

The other big game of the round is Parramatta up against South Sydney. The Rabbitohs are returning to form, but they face an Eels side that will be hell bent on snapping a three game losing streak and regathering the form which had them as an early season premiership favourite. Round 3 - Phantom Brownlow

Round 3 is now behind us and we see a tie at the top of the table with Michael Barlow, Jonathan Brown and Nick Riewoldt all on 6 votes, with Jimmy Bartel, Sam Gilbert, Ben McGlynn and Matthew Pavlich all hot on their heels with 5 votes.

The devastating news for Riewoldt though is that he is likely to miss half the season with a hamstring tear, so that has ruled out any chance he had of winning the Brownlow after his perfect start. Carlton v Essendon preview

Traditional rivals Carlton and Essendon meet at the MCG on Saturday night in what is traditionally a high scoring encounter. The Blues have lost their last 4 against the Bombers however have shown signs of improvement in life after Brendan Fevola.

The Blues have unearthed a handy replacement up forward in Setanta O’hAilpin who has booted 7 goals in two games, while the Blues struggled to contain Brown and Fevola last week they will not have the same task against the Bombers forwards. Kane Lucas makes his debut in an otherwise steady line up. The importance of the Blues defence will be the key to this game; they will need to stop an attacking game style the Bombers play.

The Bombers have been criticised for their game style which seems to be all attack and no defence, last week they were out run by Fremantle for the second consecutive game having been in with every chance at the final break. They will miss Monfries and McVeigh through injury although they do bring in some pace with Lovett Murray, Houli and new recruit Jake Melksham who will make his debut.

Despite the Blues poor record against the Bombers, should they be able to apply the brakes to the Bombers game style and not be blown away they should win.

Kangaroos v Eagles

Saturday at Docklands plays host to another important game for two sides looking to salvage what has been a disappointing start to the 2010 season. North will be looking to bounce back after a hammering from the Saints while the Eagles suffered another narrow loss.

North Melbourne will be looking to restore some of the pride lost after an embarrassing loss to the Saints last week. They have a great opportunity this week against the Eagles and will welcome three experienced players in McMahon, Harding and Edwards.

West Coast had their chances last week against an undefeated Power side however failed to take their opportunity. Like the Kangaroos they have also failed to record a win this season but will welcome back Schofield, Rosa, Dalziell, Hansen and LeCras however they do lose the long kicking Shannon Hurn through suspension.

As the odds suggest this game should be close, both sides bring in experience, while the Kangaroos will be looking to bounce back after last week the Eagles have been the better side in the opening two rounds and should be good enough to get over the line.

Richmond v Sydney preview

In a stellar round of football this game is likely to be the one that creates the least amount of interest, the Tigers have been terrible so far this season and will need to overcome a poor record against the Swans which includes losing the last 3 games by an average of 52 points.

Sydney go into this game after a solid win against the Crows last week and will go into this game unchanged. New recruits Mark Seaby (West Coast) and Ben McGlynn (Hawthorn) are flying, and youngster Daniel Hannebery was the NAB Rising Star nominee for round two. The past of Barry Hall is well and truly gone with new signing Daniel Bradshaw slotting in nicely.

Richmond continue to let down their supporters going down against the Bulldogs without a yelp. The Tigers need their midfielders to stand up to give their forwards more opportunity. Ben Cousins will add plenty of experience while Shane Tuck is a proven contested ball winner.
Sydney will win this game, Richmond have failed to win a quarter this season and won’t get a lot of support from the Sydney crowd.

Melbourne v Adelaide preview

At the early start of 1.10pm at the MCG on Sunday Melbourne will be looking to keep Adelaide winless and will go in full of confidence they can defeat an Adelaide side that looks sluggish and underdone. Melbourne have shown their best and worst this season, so which Demons outfit will show up?

In a heartbreaking loss against the Pies last week the Demons will have restored confidence in themselves and their supporters that they are a young side heading in the right direction. They can agonisingly close to producing what would have been the upset of the decade, with the inclusion of Sylvia who will add some grit to the midfield they are every chance this week.

Adelaide have been the disappointment of the season to date, after being predicted as a top four and flag contender they won’t want to drop another game otherwise they will need to improve dramatically before the season disappears. Chris Knights and Scott Stevens return in a must win clash for the Crows.

The Demons will fancy their chances however you would expect the experienced Crows to bounce back in what is likely to be another close encounter.

Bulldogs v Hawks

Another massive game with the Bulldogs taking on the Hawks at Docklands Stadium on Sunday. Both sides look in good form and genuine finals contenders, the Dogs hammered the Hawks last season by 88 points, it is unlikely they will get the same walk in the park this week.
